Therefore, $r^2$ for this data set is much smaller than $r^2$ for the data set in (a).įigure 8.12 - The data in (a) results in a high value of $r^2$, while the data shown in (b) results in a low value of $r^2$.įor the data in Example 8.31, find the coefficient of determination. On the other hand, for the data shown in (b), a lot of variation in $y$ is left unexplained by the regression model. \textrm$'s are relatively close to the $y_i$'s, so $r^2$ is close to $1$. The other variable, denoted y, is regarded as the response, outcome, or dependent variable. First, we take expectation from both sides to obtain Simple linear regression is a statistical method that allows us to summarize and study relationships between two continuous (quantitative) variables: One variable, denoted x, is regarded as the predictor, explanatory, or independent variable. Where $\epsilon$ is a $N(0,\sigma^2)$ random variable independent of $X$. Here, we assume that $x_i$'s are observed values of a random variable $X$. For simple linear regression, the least squares estimates of the model parameters 0 and 1 are denoted b0 and b1.

Even one vienese edition I had to service for a music college was a "real" joke. In my 35 years experience, I have yet to find a "decent" Kimball. What is wrong? The piano or the technicians? This case should be unanimous. I find it so strange so many piano technicians have so much different opinions on Kimball pianos. No need to hate any piano, (I keep in mind that the piano is part of the family of the customer, it helps) but we have all our own limits.īut I have some strange feelings about some new pianos made here as for others made far from here, indeed ! (and I think for miself " they have bulls. Lot of bang, and I guess thats what some customers are after on your market (as the Essex pianos or Baldwin studios) Not much "finesse" (heavily loaded soundboard and hard hammers) but the scaling was not that bad probably. Very clear tone, sounding at first as a can full of nails, but in the end while too little low partials and density for my liking, I understood the kind of tone it had, was really Ok for some Jazz or church playing and not so difficult to tune than I expected. I have very bad premisces about those spinets, but was surprized to find one which had a good enough tone recently There is a good way to avoid unwanted tunings which is to ask when the last one have been done. As a PC and mobile peripheral, though, it works well. Its grips are a bit too big, making some of the buttons feel cramped, and you can’t use it with any Xbox or PlayStation consoles. To be fair, the Stratus Duo costs the same as an Xbox Wireless Controller, and doesn’t have any night-or-day advantages. Apart from that, it also sports a vast array of buttons - too many, perhaps, but at least you’ll have no trouble navigating your PC or mobile gaming platform of choice. Still, USB connectivity tends to be both faster and more reliable than Bluetooth, so the device is not without its charms. This isn’t a make-or-break feature, since Bluetooth is generally good enough for everyday play. The SteelSeries Stratus Duo is one of the few PC controllers from a major manufacturer that comes with a wireless USB dongle. All the games inside the list have more than one of these distinctive elements of the series:įor each game, you will find a link to the Steam/GOG/Humble store. The series in the years to come will be an inspiration for many games that will propose the New World Computing game mechanics.īelow is a super-comprehensive collection of all these games like Heroes of Might & Magic (HOMM) including all the HOMM games too in order of release date. Similar to 4X strategy games but with a focus on the RPG components. Wandering around maps gathering resources and recruiting soldiers to use in chessboard-like battles are only half part of the game, the other half saw players managing resources and building new structures inside towns to get access to powerful units. The Heroes of Might & Magic series brought this kind of game to great success thanks to the merging of RPG exploration and battles with a strategy layer. Heroes of Might & Magic is a series originally created and developed by Jon Van Caneghem through New World Computing with the first title A Strategic Quest released in 1995 on DOS with an updated Windows 95 version a year later. |
